Your right to access public records
Freedom of Information Act
Your Right to Information
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a law that gives you (the consumer) the right to see certain public records and documents held by government agencies, including Berrien Mental Health Authority. This means you can request information about how decisions are made, how funds are used, and how services are provided.
FOIA is important because it helps ensure transparency, builds trust, and allows the people we serve to better understand and be involved in the services and supports they receive.
After you complete your FOIA Request Form below, you may mail it to:
Riverwood Center
Attn: FOIA Coordinator
P.O. Box 547
Benton Harbor, MI 49023
Or you may e-mail the form to: djm@riverwoodcenter.org
*The FOIA Coordinator, or in her/his absence the CEO is designated the Authority’s “FOIA Coordinator” and is vested with the Authority set out in the Act and this Policy.
